A “highly accessed” debate article in the open access journal BMC Medical Education urges the use of web authoring tools, including shared use by students, clinicians and patients. The authors suggest that “If effectively deployed, wikis, blogs and podcasts could offer a way to enhance students’, clinicians’ and patients’ learning experiences.” I’d be very interested in others’ ideas about what effective deployments might be.  Ref: Wikis, blogs and podcasts: a new generation of Web-based tools for virtual collaborative clinical practice and education, by Maged N Kamel Boulos, Inocencio Maramba and Steve Wheeler  in BMC Medical Education 2006, 6:41 http://www.biomedcentral.com/1472-6920/6/41.
